Spotlight
Our Spotlight for the month of October is Cathie aka Cathiemarie

Check out her gallery for some fabulous layouts.
DSP - How long have you been scrapping?
Member – I started scrapbooking right after Kade, my first and only (so far) grandchild was born in May 2006. My DD’s neighbour showed me a scrapbook her mother made for her new born baby and I just HAD to try it and since then I’ve been totally hooked and addicted.
DSP - What do you like best about digital scrapbooking?
Member – It just has to be the convenience, being able to scrap anywhere, anytime and without all the ‘mess’ as with IRL scrapping. Then with digital scrapping there is the joy of discovering all the new and wonderful techniques you can employ when creating layouts.
DSP - What drew you to this site?
Member – Without reservation the DSP team, they are all so ‘real’. I really feel that they know me and love me and make me feel very special and important here at DSP. The products at DSP, in my opinion, are the best you can get and I love how the team run all the DSP challenges, chats and contests. Last of all the camaraderie here at DSP amongst the members has truly been a life saver for me. I have met quite a few members and team in real life through attending DSP crops and even those I have never met I feel like they are all life long friends. I’ve even found a cyber sister through DSP, many members will know that Lynnie (Formbygirl) and I have formed a very special friendship and we have each visited one another’s homes and family.
DSP - Do you have a favorite challenge here at DSP?
Member – Well it has to be said that Featured Designer Challenge is my favourite because Lynnie and I run it every month. It gives us a chance to really get to know the DSP Designers and all the members who participate in the challenge. Next to that is Lauren’s Gimme more Crops Challenge. I like that challenge so much because, first of all I really love ALL of Lauren’s kits and because she is so generous in her posting bonus rewards and can always be relied on to deliver what she says she will.
DSP - What is your most "off the wall" layout?
Member – I’ve got a lot of ‘off the wall’ layouts in my gallery, and that’s because I love to try out new techniques. One of my favourites was a Layout I created for DET, where I used a gazillion different things to create what I think turned out to be beautiful.
DSP - Do you ever experience "scrappers block", and if so how do you overcome it?
Member – Oh yes, often. There are a couple of things I will do to break out, I will either scour the gallery to do a scraplift, look for a challenge that will stretch me like Freestyle Fandango or Graphically Challenged. I sometime try to get inspired by browsing through a scrapbook magazine, visit DSP Inspiration Station. Sometimes I go to the DSP Campus and sift through the tutorials or surf for them on line that can usually motivate me to get cracking on a new Layout.
DSP - What is your favorite thing to scrap about?
Member – I love to scrap layouts with my grandson in them – he is such a great subject and is currently going through the stage of loving the lens. But generally, I like to scrap things that are currently happening in my life, like my recent belly dancing weekend. I often keep in my mind when scrapping that all my friends at DSP will love to see this or that – see they are like my family.
DSP - If you were a scrapbook element, what would you be?
Member – I would like to be a frame, because then I would be encircling the most precious thing on every page – the subject. Almost like I would be hugging the person in the photo.
DSP - What part of the site do you spend the most time in, other than your gallery?
Member – The Grannie Thread.
DSP - What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy other than scrapping?
Member – I work full time for Local Government and love my job but in the evenings and weekends I like to go out with my friends. We are all single ladies and belong to a club called SPICE, which stands for Special Programme of Incentive, Challenge and Excitement. We get up to all kinds of things from just going out for a meal, to the theatre, to weekends away belly dancing, lama trekking, oh the list is endless. We could go wing walking or fire walking if we wanted to as well as sky diving and other adrenalin rush stuff but at our age we tend to go for the ‘tame’ things.
Thanks for being our spotlight this month Cathie! It was great to read more about you! ~Team Digital
